At the invitation of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), Bernie Leong, president of Macau Delegation of the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry  (CCILC - Macau), recently led a delegation to visit the Service Platform Complex for Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries and hold a discussion. IPIM Acting President Vincent U and Executive Director Sam Lei received and greeted the delegation. The two parties had an in-depth discussion and exchanged views on issues including how to bring the unique advantages of platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (PSCs) into play.

Vincent U expressed welcome to CCILC - Macau’s visit, and fully recognized CCILC - Macau’s achievements over the years. He expected that through regular communications with CCILC - Macau,  IPIM can effectively offer matching services for businesses from China and PSCs. He hoped CCILC - Macau can serve as a bridge to encourage Portuguese corporate members with businesses in Macau to expand into the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and other cities of the Greater Bay Area (GBA). Moreover, the IPIM will continue to provide comprehensive support for Portuguese companies interested in tapping the mainland market, including providing professional business consultation and analysis and advising on the most suitable mainland province or city to expand and export to. The Service Platform Complex for Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries will be operational in the middle of October. In addition to introducing the role of Macau as a platform between China and PSCs, the development of various fields in PSCs, and showcasing featured products and services from PSCs, the service platform will also be home to an integrated activity venue and multi-function rooms. He looked forward to forging closer ties with CCILC - Macau in the future.

Bernie Leong expressed heartfelt gratitude to IPIM for its continued guidance and support. The visit provided directors and supervisory board members of CCILC – Macau with the opportunity to learn more about the cultures and products of PSCs, such as their fine wines and gourmet food. The unique cultural customs and characteristic products of different countries were vividly on display in the pavilions on the basement floor. As Leong believed it best to meet in person for the development of strong relations between them, he looked forward to visiting PSCs to pave the way for future development after easing of the pandemic situation. Leong mentioned that members of the chamber are looking forward to the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, which will be held in October 2022. He believed that exchanges between countries will become closer and more results will be achieved.

At the discussion, representatives of CCILC-Macau enthusiastically expressed their views and commented on issues related to banking, finance, traditional Chinese medicine and wine.
